Sallying Forth

Dear Reader,

It should come as no surprise to you, judging from the name chosen for this blog, consistency is not among my virtues, few that they are. This is not incidental for it is a thing of which I am especially wary. I hold it in great awe and great contempt for I consider consistent men are either great saints or great bores (notice, please, I do not conflate the two, being so contrary each to other).

As one consistent in his inconsistency, I refuse to bestow upon this blog a theme nor will grant assurance of writing with any regularity. This may, in fact, be mine only post.

But no more of that. This blog’s purposes are entirely mine own and to that end this blog will address topics of interest to me, as a matter of course. You may expect ramblings on every and any topic for I consider nothing human foreign to me (Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto – Terence).

What then can I say?

I am a lifelong Roman Catholic and traditionalist, I esteem greatly the wisdom of the past for the benefit of future. My patron saint, St. Cecilia, reflects my passion for poetry and music. I have an appreciation for gastronomy, especially mixed drinks and Mediterranean fare. I delight in attending the cinema and take every opportunity available to view older films on the big screen. As an exhaustive list would be exhausting, please allow this small glimpse to suffice for now.

Until next I post, farewell and God bless you

With an host of furious fancies
Whereof I am commander,
With a burning spear and a horse of air,
To the wilderness I wander.
By a knight of ghosts and shadows
I summoned am to a tourney
Ten leagues beyond the wide world’s end:
Methinks it is no journey.
